Dear readers,
I’m writing to let you know about some exciting changes happening regarding my Process of Illumination blog.
If you’ve been reading my POI posts for a while, you might have noticed a shift in my writing over the past few years. As I’ve grown and changed as a person, so has my perspective on what I want to share with the world. Writing used to be like keeping a journal for me, but now it’s more of a guide that reflects my values and experiences.
However, I sometimes struggle with how much of myself to reveal in these posts. I want to be honest and vulnerable with my readers, but at the same time, I don’t always know who is reading them or how they might react. It’s a delicate balance between sharing too little and revealing too much.
Despite this uncertainty, I believe that being authentic is important both in writing and in life. While I can’t control how others respond to my words, I can choose to write from the heart and hope that it resonates with those who need to hear it. So thank you for being here with me on this journey—it means more than you know.
In today’s society, freedom of speech has undergone significant changes, making it challenging for individuals to express their thoughts openly. This has resulted in a culture where being vulnerable with a group of strangers requires more courage than ever before. That’s why I’ve decided to move all my content to Substack. There, you’ll not only find the new home of my Process Of Illumination Blog, but also lots of new content such as topical articles, monthly Devotionals, Marriage Blog, and my NEW Practical Ministry podcast!
While all of that content is available to free subscribers, I strongly encourage you to become a paid subscriber to gain access to exclusive content, such as my “Process of Illumination” blog and archives. This content is only accessible to those who have demonstrated their commitment in supporting my work.
As someone who believes it’s crucial to share my story and bear witness to how God is working in my life, I learned an invaluable lesson during my work and training with Brene Brown. While we might feel inclined to share our stories with everyone, Brene reminds us that hearing our stories should be seen as a privilege that must be earned:
“Our stories are not meant for everyone. Hearing them is a privilege, and we should always ask ourselves this before we share: “Who has earned the right to hear my story?” If we have one or two people in our lives who can sit with us and hold space for our shame stories, and love us for our strengths and struggles, we are incredibly lucky. If we have a friend, or small group of friends, or family who embraces our imperfections, vulnerabilities, and power, and fills us with a sense of belonging, we are incredibly lucky.” – Brene Brown
So, while sharing my story is an important part of my purpose, it’s also essential that I choose wisely when deciding who hears it. That’s why I’ve decided to only allow access to Process of Illumination to paid subscribers.
Becoming a paid subscriber (for as little as $7/month) means that you’ll be a partner on this journey with me. You’ll receive exclusive access to new posts as they’re published, as well as the Process of Illumination archives which are full of stories from almost two decades of writing. Basically, it’s my journal of transformation and you’ll be able to follow it from the beginning.
By offering exclusive access through Substack, I can ensure that the content is safe within this community of invested readers who support me and care about what I’m doing. This decision wasn’t made lightly, but I believe it’s the best way to continue providing you with the most personal, authentic, and vulnerable insights into my life and experiences.
Moving forward into 2023…
I’m thrilled to share that moving to Substack will allow me even more opportunities to create content in a variety of genres such as topical articles, a Marriage Blog, monthly Devotionals, and my new Practical Ministry podcast! With a fresh perspective on what matters most in my life, I’m excited to invest my time into creating content that not only challenges me spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually but also offers me new ways to benefit and inspire my community.
Thank you so much for being a part of this family, and for your continued support on this journey!
Warm regards,
Tracy B Richards
