What is The Daring Way™?
The Daring Way™ is a highly interactive workshop based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The workshop curriculum was developed to help men, women, and adolescents learn how to show up, be seen, and live braver lives. The primary focus is on developing resilience skills and developing a courage practice that transforms the way we live, love, parent, and lead. It can be facilitated in clinical, educational, and professional settings, and is suitable for work with individuals, couples, families, work teams, and organizational leaders.
Tracy B. Richards is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator – Candidate (CDWF-C). Only Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators (or Candidates) are sanctioned to provide The Daring Way™ workshops. It’s important and courageous work that can transform your life and how you see the world.

Who is Brené Brown?
Brené Brown, Ph.D., LMSW, is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past 12 years studying connection, vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame. The Daring Way™ method is based on Dr. Brown’s groundbreaking research, which has been featured on PBS, NPR, CNN, The Katie Show, and Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul Sunday.
Among Dr. Brown’s published works are: the #1 New York Times Bestseller, Daring Greatly: How the Courage to be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead (2012); the New York Times Bestseller, The Gifts of Imperfection (2010); and I Thought It Was Just Me (2007). Dr. Brown’s 2010 TEDx Houston talk, The Power of Vulnerability, is one of the top 10 most viewed TED talks in the world, with more than 12 million viewers. Additionally, she gave the closing talk at the 2012 TED conference where she talked about shame, courage, and innovation.
The 3-day retreat format allows you to receive the full program in a shorter amount of time. And, really, who doesn’t need a retreat now and then? Think of it as a gift of time to yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions About Self-Love: The Daring Way™
More information and resources are available at www.thedaringway.com and www.benebrown.com.
What is the structure/format of The Daring Way™ workshop? What can I expect?
The 3-day workshop starts with a welcome and introduction, and then we jump right in to practicing and exploring the work. There are breaks and time for relaxation, connection, and reflection. All materials are provided, and the atmosphere is relaxed, open, and nurturing.
The 3-day workshop is being held at the very unique StudioBe in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. StudioBe’s energy acts as a comforting buffer from the outside world and creates a sense of being in an oasis… away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Because of it’s convenient location, it is easy to get to via transit and there are plenty of places to eat and explore between the workshop sessions.
Can I commute to the 3-day workshop instead of staying at StudioBe?
Yes. While it would be ideal for all attendees to stay together onsite, StudioBe does not have enough space to accommodate all attendees for the 3-day workshop. If you are commuting, we strongly recommend that you hold these 3 days very sacred and do not schedule anything else that weekend that will distract you from the process.
Do I need to have completed any previous work before participating in The Daring Way™?
No. You can benefit from this work with or without previous counseling or workshop experience. It may help you to understand the work more if you read Daring Greatly: How the Courage to be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead (2012), by Brené Brown, but it is not required. In addition to reading the books if you wish, it is also a good idea to check out Bené Brown’s two TED Talks: The Power of Vulnerability and the talk on shame, courage, and innovation.
Am I allowed to have contact with the outside world (calls to friends and family) during these days?
Absolutely! We know life doesn’t stop when you are at a 3-day retreat. We will have plenty of breaks and space for you to have privacy to communicate with loved ones.
I noticed that sometimes you offer an 8-week workshop instead of the 3-day workshop. If I want to do 8 weeks, do I have to participate in the 3-day workshop first?
The 8-week and the 3-day are the same program, just on a different timeline. The 3-day program offers the intensive experience and retreat atmosphere, while the 8-week workshop takes place one evening a week for 8 weeks. We understand that not everyone can take the time away to attend a retreat, so we’re offering The Daring Way™ in various formats so that everyone who wants to can have the chance to experience this work. You will get to do the same work in the 8-week class, and there will be homework assignments to keep the work alive between sessions.
Is there ongoing support anticipated following this workshop?
In other parts of the country, The Daring Way™ participants have continued to meet monthly to discuss their work and to support each other. We would like to help facilitate that with our participants and will address this at the end of the workshops. But our intention is that, yes, we will offer ongoing support in the form of peer-to-peer meetings following the workshops.
What is the cost of The Daring Way™ 3-day workshop?
The cost of the 3-Day workshop is $399 if paid in full up to 1 week prior to the start date. If you register less than 7 days before the event, the cost is $480. If you wish to have accommodations at StudioBe, the cost is $330 for a double-occupancy room, which includes 1 queen bed and a shared bath.
What is the cost of The Daring Way™ 8-day workshop?
The cost of the 8-day workshop is $399 if paid in full up to 2 weeks prior to the start date. If you register less than 14 days before the event, the cost is $480.
